PSGSL About Us

The Palm Springs Gay Softball League (PSGSL) is a non-profit 501c(3) corporation dedicated to fostering local, regional, national and international sports competition.  We are dedicated to the promotion of the amateur athletic experience for persons of all skill levels and abilities, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, creed, religion or national origin.

Formed in 2004 by our Founding Fathers Tommie Douglas and Jim Hurst, the league began with 4 teams and approximately 50 participants.  By 2006, we had two divisions and 9 teams: Barracks, Blame It, Toucans-Hawks, Tool Shed, Whatever in one division, and Delilah's, Hunters, Rainbow and Triangle Inn in the other.  Today, the PSGSL has grown to 15 teams with well over 200 participants, sponsored by local gay and gay friendly businesses throughout the Coachella Valley.

The PSGSL is also a member of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA), a year-round, all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization comprised of more than 40,000 athletes from 46 cities across the United States and Canada.  Each year, NAGAAA partners with a Host City to deliver the Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) — the largest annual, LGBTQ single-sport, week-long athletic competition in the world. They also have another smaller weekend tournament called the NAGAAA Cup which showcases the very best teams that NAGAAA has to offer.
